Be a Recognized Model of Volunteer Excellence
Provide outstanding volunteer service to LHAAMC
Founded in 1944 as a way for community members to give back to the hospital, LHAAMC's adult volunteering service — LHAAMC Auxiliary — has gone from being the "Pink Ladies" to the "Blue Crew" and is an integral part of the organization's mission to provide patient-centered high-quality health care services to the community.
Auxiliary members serve in more than 30 different services on the main campus and in the many satellite centers spread around the community. Volunteers at AAMC are asked to give one shift per week on a regular day and time. Accommodation is made for vacation or other leave. Shifts are typically 9 am–12:30 pm or 12:30–4 pm. There are opportunities for evening and weekend volunteer work. Volunteer assignments are based on the volunteer's interest and schedule as well as the hospital's needs.
To be an Auxiliary member, volunteers must:
- Complete an application
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Undergo a background check
- Volunteer for one three-hour shift per week for a year
- Attend all required orientations and trainings
- Comply with all required immunizations
