Thank you for your interest in volunteering as an adult or pastoral care volunteer at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center. We enjoy working with dependable and friendly volunteers who complement the quality care that our medical staff provides to patients, families and the community. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, with excellent interpersonal skills, phone skills and basic computer knowledge. Shift opportunities are available from 7 am–8 pm daily; the minimum commitment is four hours a week for six consecutive months.
Requirements
- Pre-register
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Undergo a background check
- Volunteer for one three-hour shift per week for a year
- Attend all required orientations and trainings
- Comply with all required immunizations
In appreciation for services, hospital volunteers receive:
- A free daily meal in the cafeteria.
- Access to social and educational sessions offered at the hospital.
- Free flu shot and basic health screenings.
- Free parking.
- Invitation to a volunteer recognition event.
To be considered for our volunteer program, please follow the instructions listed below:
- Carefully review and complete one of the volunteer packets, as appropriate.
- Return the full packet to Volunteer Services with two (2) letters of reference.
- For pastoral care volunteers only:
- One of the references must be from your religious or spiritual leader.
- Provide a copy of your ordination certificate
- For pastoral care volunteers only:
- Attend one of the scheduled volunteer orientations.
- Schedule a personal interview with Volunteer Services to help us determine your area of interest.
The Lay Healthcare Chaplaincy Training (LHCT) Program provides nonsectarian and nondenominational training to help participants offer competent pastoral or spiritual care to patients and families in a hospital setting.
