Why Luminis Health

Many people will undergo surgery in their lifetime, and pre-operative tests and medical clearances are often required before surgery. The Luminis Health Pre-Anesthesia Testing centers are a one-stop-shop for completing these pre-operative tests and medical clearances. Our pre-operative team works in collaboration with anesthesiology to provide medical clearances based on the latest guidelines, in addition to completing in office EKG’s, lab work, and scheduling assistance for specialty medical clearances as needed.

Luminis Health offers trusted, collaborative care:

  • Direct communication with surgeons and anesthesiologists
  • Same day results - clearances and lab results available in MyChart
  • Thorough pre-operative instruction and medication reviews

Types of Services Provided

  • Pre-Operative Medical Clearance
  • History & Physical (H&P) within 30 days of surgery
  • Pre-op testing, including lab work, EKG’s, and airway checks.
  • Anesthesia Consultations: Additional Anesthesia clearance may be required if you have a prior history of complications with Anesthesia.
  • Coordination of additional medical clearances as needed (Cardiology, Pulmonary, Hematology)

Preparing for your visit

If you need any pre-operative clearances or tests to ensure you’re in good health for your procedure, your surgeon will instruct you to schedule a pre-operative appointment. You can schedule your pre-operative medical clearance within 30 days of surgery, lab work up to 30 days before surgery and EKGs up to six months before surgery.

If you don’t have a primary care doctor or can’t get an appointment before the date of your surgery, call one of our Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT) Centers to complete your pre-operative workup.

Please come prepared with the following:

  • Photo ID/Driver’s License
  • Insurance card(s)
  • Pre-operative orders from your surgeon
  • A list of all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications and supplements. Include the name of the medication, the dosage and how often you take it
  • A list of your known allergies
  • Names of your primary care physician and specialists

What to expect during your visit

  • A member of our clinical team will take your medical history and conduct a physical exam to ensure that you may safely undergo surgery.
  • You will receive instructions about the medications you may take prior to your procedure.
  • You will learn where and when to report on the day of your procedure.
  • You will complete lab work and an electrocardiogram (EKG), if necessary.
