Anticoagulants, or blood thinners such as warfarin or Coumadin®, are lifesaving medications. Doctors prescribe them to patients who have:
- One or more blood clots.
- Atrial fibrillation (an abnormal heartbeat that can cause blood to pool in part of the heart and form clots).
- Mechanical heart valves or a disease that causes the heart valves to function abnormally.
- Increased risk of a stroke.
At our Anticoagulation Services Clinic, we have onsite doctors, nurses and pharmacists who work together with your doctor to keep you healthy.
We make sure you get the right medication at the right dose and time. We monitor you closely to prevent and treat side effects. And, if you're a Luminis Health patient, we coordinate your care by reviewing and updating your single medical record.
We recognize you're more likely to have better health when you know more about your treatment and condition. We empower you with information and help you make important lifestyle changes. This lowers your risk of health problems even further.
You'll also be glad to know that we're here for you with convenient hours, including early morning appointments to accommodate your work schedule.
